Laura Cude
Laura Cude is twenty one years old and from a dead beat town called Leatherhead which is located in Old Blighty. She left Kingston College last year with three A grade A levels, and three university acceptances. She turned them all down in favour of practical work experience, which is what bought her to Her Circle as one of three blog coordinators for the The Writer’s Life Blog. Laura’s interests include punk music, independent film and all things existentialist and feminist.

Melissa Corliss DeLorenzo
Melissa is a writer, reader, yogini (when she can squeeze it in), mom, part-time Office Manager, and a homemaker. She loves to cook and take long walks with her kids and is a woman who wants to meaningfully exchange and intersect with other women writers. She holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in English Literature from the University of Massachusetts and a Masters of Fine Arts in Creative Writing from Naropa University in Boulder, Colorado. Once she received her MFA, she began in earnest giving birth – not to exquisite works of literary brilliance, but to actual human babies (exquisite nonetheless). She is now emerging from the bleary, fuzzy cocoon of babyhood fervently renewed and ready to carve out a place in the world of words and stories. Currently she works at a web development company (because part-time Office Manager buys more groceries than Struggling Writer). She is at work on a novel and a short story collection. Melissa lives in North Central Massachusetts with her family.

Hello HerCircle readers!

My name is Brittany-Ann, and I’m one of the new interns for The Writer’s Life. I’m here to help find new writers for you to discover.
When I found out about this website, I immediately fell in love with it. A website that features women in art and literature? I added it immediately to the list of New Favorite Websites. You see, I’m a reader. I’m a writer. I’ve devoured books as soon as I learned how to read, and I began writing stories on my father’s drafting table soon after. Then I saw the call for interns. I knew I had to apply. It was perfect.
I grew up in Louisville, Kentucky, home of the Kentucky Derby, also known as the gateway to the American South. I recently graduated from Western Kentucky University with a degree in English writing and Political Science. The timing seemed unreal, that this internship should surface right when I no longer had classes, papers, or graduation to worry about. What else could I do? So here I am.

I’ll be here behind the scenes for you until the end of the summer, looking for awesome women who write and do awesome things, and attempting to get said awesome women to write for this blog!

Offsite, I’m a sucker for crime shows: NCIS, Law & Order, and CSI. I’m also a Trekkie—Voyager, of course, because Captain Janeway is awesome.

I have an adorable two year old nephew—he’s the love of my life. I’ve read to him since before he could hold his head up. My mission is to make him as much a lover of books as I! (He already owns half a dozen books!)

I love to read historical fiction, especially if it’s based in France. But I also harbor a growing love for fantasy as well, sparked by Jacqueline Carey’s Kushiel’s Legacy series.

Interns must be able to commit to one day per week for a period of 3 months (May – July) in the first instance. This is an unpaid opportunity.

Interns should possess a demonstrated interest in women’s literature and/or social activism related to women’s issues on a global scale. In addition, should feel comfortable reaching out to writers/bloggers/publishers about guest blogging, interview, and Q&A opportunities. As this work will be performed virtually, an ability to work independently and with consistency is critical, as are organization and time management skills.

To apply send a letter of interest with resume/CV to volunteer@hercircleezine.com. The deadline for applications is Friday, May 7th.

We accept reviews of works of fiction, non-fiction, poetry, and selected scholarly works by and about women.

There are two ways to participate:

1) Submit your completed reviews of 300-500 words for consideration to books@​hercircleezine.​com.​

2) Join our volunteer collective to gain access to our exclusive Reviewer’s Forum, where you can request books for review. For further information, please send a short note of interest and two writing samples to books@​hercircleezine.​com.​

Christine is a PhD candidate in English Literature at Drew University. She worked as a social worker for 12 years, concentrating on the mentally ill and addicted before teaching courses in both composition and poetry writing at Rutgers University and York College.

Christine served on the editorial board of several literary journals, including Vernacular: A Women‘s Literary Journal, published by Women‘s Studio Center of Queens. Twice nominated for a Pushcart Prize, and once for “The Best of the Web,” her full-length book of poems, The Transparent Dinner, was published by Mayapple Press in October 2006. In 2007, she was a runner up to the Queens’ Poet Laureate. She is author of three chapbooks, Children Having Trouble with Meat (MiPoesias), The Animal Husband (Dancing Girl Press), and The Salt Daughter (Little Poem Press).
